Fraternities & Sororities
The UNC Asheville Greek Life system is one that promotes personal, social, intellectual and ethical development of all chapter members. Each Chapter is recognized and hosted by UNC Asheville with the responsibility of the national chapters resting with that organization's headquarters.
The advancement of the Greek System at UNC Asheville is seen as an ongoing effort of the preservation of traditional intellectual growth and progressive leadership development.
A Greek community has the opportunity and ability to do the following:
- Enhance student learning and leadership
- Build strong ties between the university and its future alumni
- Develop well-rounded students who value community and citizenship

Fraternities and sororities select their members through a recruitment process, commonly referred to as "rush." Here at UNC Asheville, this process is simply known as "recruitment."

Fraternity and Sorority Recruitment Process
Membership recruitment kicks off within the first week of each semester with an introduction given by the UNC Asheville Greek Life Office. Generally there are a number of informational opportunities that all chapters participate in to provide interested men and women the opportunity to meet active members from all fraternities and sororities. While fraternity recruitment and sorority recruitment are separate, the membership process operates in a similar way. The individual chapters will host separate events throughout the course of recruitment in order for potential new members to learn more about a particular fraternity or sorority in a more individualized environment. No registration fee is required and it is up to the student to decide which events to attend. Students can register for recruitment by filling out the fraternity and sorority recruitment form.
